Product Details and Uses

Sufix Zippy Leader Clear 100M 0.55 (20Kg/ 40Lb)

Welcome to Gerry’s Fishing! Sufix Zippy Shock Leader is a step above traditional nylon mono leaders. Made from a copolymer nylon that absorbs the initial shock when you cast heavy leads, it was designed and developed to give the biggest casters total confidence, and it is the number one choice for anglers wanting to fish at maximum range without the fear of the line cracking off during the cast.

This 100m spool of clear 0.55mm (40lb / 20kg) Zippy offers a superior strength to diameter ratio yet remains easy to handle. The clear copolymer construction is supple, with high knot and crimp strength and good abrasion resistance, so it holds up on the gravel, rocks and shingle of the beach as well as around boat fishing and predator rigs.

Detailed Specifications

Product: Sufix Zippy Shock Leader
Colour: Clear
Spool Length: 100m
Diameter: 0.55mm
Breaking Strain: 40lb / 20kg
Material: Copolymer nylon
Key Properties: Stretchy leader that absorbs shock, excellent strength to diameter ratio, high knot and crimp strength, good abrasion resistance

Examples of Where to Use

Beach Casting: A shock leader that absorbs the load of casting heavy leads, helping you cast at full power with confidence.
Boat Fishing: A tough, abrasion-resistant clear leader for rigs and traces.
Predator and Heavy Rigs: A supple, strong clear mono for leaders where strength and handling both matter.

Pro Tip from Gerry’s Fishing

Pro Tip: Match the shock leader to the weight of the lead you are casting. A common rule of thumb is around 10lb of leader for every 1oz of lead, so the 40lb Zippy suits leads up to roughly 4oz. Use a strong, neat leader knot and always moisten your knots before pulling them tight. Check the leader for nicks or abrasion after each session and replace it when it looks damaged.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is Sufix Zippy made from?
A: Zippy is made from a copolymer nylon, which gives it a high strength to diameter ratio and the stretch needed to absorb the shock when casting heavy leads.

Q: What size does this spool come in?
A: This listing is for a 100m spool of 0.55mm clear Zippy with a 40lb / 20kg breaking strain.

Q: Does Zippy work for fishing other than beachcasting?
A: Yes. Its toughness, knot strength and abrasion resistance mean it also works well as a leader material for boat fishing and predator rigs.
