The return of the Power Aero Surf has been met with huge excitement at Gerry’s Fishing, and the Hybrid model is the jewel in the crown for the technical surfcaster. While the Tubular version is a raw casting machine, this 4.25m Hybrid model (BX power rating) is designed for the angler who refuses to choose between extreme distance and delicate bite detection.

By integrating a solid carbon Hybrid tip into the high-performance Spiral X Core blank, Shimano has created a rod that can punch a lead to the horizon while still twitching at the slightest touch of a flatfish or whiting at 150 yards.

Elite Tournament Technology

• Hybrid Tip Design: Unlike the stiffer tubular tip, the Hybrid tip is a solid carbon insert seamlessly spliced into the blank.¹ This provides a much softer, more sensitive upper section that registers tiny bites and keeps your lead anchored in the tide, all without sacrificing the rod’s overall casting backbone.

• Spiral X Core & Hi-Power X: This rod utilizes Shimano’s premium carbon sandwich.² Spiral X Core provides 2.5x more torsional rigidity than standard blanks, while Hi-Power X prevents the rod from twisting during a power cast.
