The Finesse Choice for Precision Squid Fishing

The Sakura Stingray Egi 2504 FD is the lighter, more compact sibling of the 3500 series, specifically designed for “finesse” Eging. In the world of squid fishing, weight and balance are everything; the 2504 model is built to be used with lighter rods and smaller jigs (sizes 1.5 to 2.5), allowing for hours of fatigue-free casting and twitching.

Despite its smaller footprint, it retains all the technical DNA of the Stingray range, including a stainless steel infinite anti-reverse for instant hooksets. Like the larger version, it comes pre-spooled with 100 meters of 0.10mm pink Dyneema braid, ensuring you have the zero-stretch sensitivity required to detect the subtle “weighting” of a squid taking the jig.

Where & How to Use It

Light Eging (LRE): This 2500 size is the gold standard for “Light Rock Eging.” If you are targeting smaller squid species or fishing in calm harbors and piers with jigs under 10g, this reel provides the delicate touch and balance needed.
Finesse Lure Fishing: Because it is pre-loaded with high-quality 0.10mm braid, this reel doubles as an excellent LRF (Light Rock Fishing) tool. It is perfectly suited for casting 2g–7g jig heads (like the Sakura Xprat Dart) for Pollock, Perch, or Trout.
Close-Quarter Cuttlefish: When “jigging” vertically off harbor walls for Cuttlefish, the 245g weight makes the setup incredibly responsive. The 4kg drag is more than enough to handle the pulsing weight of a large “Cuttle” without being cumbersome.
Backpacking & Travel: Due to its compact size and light weight, it’s an ideal reel to keep in a travel kit. Since it comes pre-spooled, it’s a “grab-and-go” solution for spontaneous sessions.

“The 2504 is all about ‘feel.’ When squid are being shy, they often just ‘sit’ on the jig rather than grabbing it aggressively.
