Shimano Sienna FG 2000

Shimano Sienna FG 2000 | The Perfect Lightweight All-Rounder

At Gerry’s Fishing, we often point toward the Shimano Sienna FG 2000 as the “Goldilocks” reel for light lure enthusiasts. It sits perfectly between the ultra-light 1000 and the standard 2500, offering the ideal balance of weight and line capacity. It is the definitive choice for new anglers, youngsters, or budget-conscious fishermen who refuse to compromise on the reliability that only a Shimano gear-set can provide.

The 2000 size is incredibly popular for light spinning, drop-shotting, and lure fishing in both fresh and saltwater. It provides enough line capacity to handle a hard-running fish while remaining light enough to prevent arm fatigue during a full day of repetitive casting.

Proven Reliability & Smooth Performance

• Precision Shimano Gearing: The heart of the Sienna features high-quality gears supported by 3 ball bearings and a roller bearing. This combination delivers a smooth, consistent rotation that immediately sets it apart from other reels in its price bracket.

• XT-7 Composite Body: The strong XT-7 body is designed to take the “rough and tumble” of the bankside. It provides a rigid, protective housing for the internal components, ensuring that even if the reel is accidentally dropped or mishandled, the gears stay aligned.

• Cold Forged Aluminium AR-C Spool: A standout feature at this price point is the professional-grade aluminium spool. The AR-C spool lip helps the line leave the spool in smaller loops with less friction, resulting in longer, more accurate casts and fewer tangles.

• Instant Anti-Reverse: The roller bearing provides an instant stop on the handle, ensuring better hook sets and a more connected feel when working lures.

Use Example: Finesse Luring and River Roaming

Imagine you are walking a stretch of the River Lune or a local canal, targeting Perch and Zander with small soft plastics or light spinners.

The Sienna 2000 is the ideal partner for a 6ft or 7ft light lure rod. Weighing just 250g, the setup feels balanced and agile. Because the spool is aluminium and braid-friendly, you can load it with a thin 10lb braid for maximum sensitivity. When you flick your lure under a bridge piling, the AR-C spool ensures the line peels off effortlessly. When a Perch strikes, the smooth drag system lets you play the fish confidently, absorbing those sharp “head-shakes” without pulling the hook.
