Product Information

Tronixpro Competition Naga 14’0″ (4-8oz)

The Legend Refined: High-Volume Carbon Power for the Modern Shore.

The original Naga MX was a powerhouse that earned a massive following for its “no-nonsense” approach to heavy-duty shore fishing. The new Tronixpro Competition Naga takes that legendary DNA and brings it into the modern era. At 14ft, this is a longer, lighter, and more responsive beast, utilizing advanced Super Volume Japanese Carbon to deliver the same bone-crushing power with significantly less physical effort.

At Gerry’s Fishing, we know that 14ft rods can sometimes feel cumbersome—but not the Naga. By reducing the blank’s weight and refining the taper, Tronixpro has created a rod that slices through the air with minimal resistance. This allows you to generate massive tip speed, resulting in huge distances whether you are throwing a 5oz lead for flats or a 7oz grip lead for winter Cod.

Why the Competition Naga is a Professional Choice:

  • Super Volume Japanese Carbon: This high-spec material allows for a much lighter blank without sacrificing an ounce of strength. It provides a “crisp” feel that recovers instantly, ensuring all your casting energy goes into the lead and not into blank-wobble.

  • Refined Power Curve: The Naga features a massive reserve of power in the butt and mid-section. It is designed to “lock out” when you need to apply maximum pressure, making it one of the best rods on the market for winching big fish through heavy surf or kelp.

  • “All-Rounder” Sensitivity: Despite its power, the tip has been carefully tuned to retain sensitivity. It’s stiff enough to hold position in a racing spring tide but refined enough to register the distinct “rattle” of a Flounder or Whiting.

  • Fuji K Alconite Guides: Fitted with genuine Fuji K Alconite guides, designed to prevent tangles and wind-knots while offering a super-smooth surface for both braid and heavy mono shock leaders.

  • Fuji DPS Reel Seat: A rock-solid Fuji seat ensures your reel stays exactly where you want it during the most aggressive power casts.

Where to Use It (Pro Recommendations)

  • Big-Sea Winter Codding: This is the natural successor to the Naga MX for a reason. When the sea is big and you need to punch a large cocktail bait past the breakers, the Naga has the “grunt” to do it with ease.

  • Targeting Powerful Species (Tope & Rays): The sheer winching power in the lower two-thirds of the blank makes this an ideal choice for taming fast-running Tope, Smooth-hounds, and big Stingrays.

  • Rough & Mixed Ground: Because it’s so strong, you can use the Naga over the “nasty stuff” with confidence. It has the lifting power to keep a fish’s head up and away from snags.

  • Long-Range Beach Work: The extra length (14ft) provides incredible leverage. It’s perfect for the vast beaches of the North West and Wales where the fish are often holding just out of reach of standard 12ft rods.

Gerry’s Tip: The Competition Naga is a “fast” rod, meaning it likes to be worked. To get the absolute best out of it, don’t be afraid to lean into it. The Super Volume Carbon is incredibly resilient—the more you give it, the more it gives back in yardage!
