Primary Use in Fishing

The oval design is what differentiates it from a standard round split ring, giving it specific advantages:

Lead Clip Alternative: It is often used as a sturdy and reliable alternative to a plastic lead clip on various sea fishing rigs.
Knot Security (Tapered End): The ring is designed with a tapered shape:
- The narrow end is intended for attaching the main line or knot. The oval shape naturally forces the knot to rest away from the split in the ring, preventing the line from fraying or slipping through the gap under heavy load.
- The wide end is used for clipping on the weight/lead.
Easy Lead Attachment: The split ring includes a small offshoot tag from the main ring. This “tag” gives purchase (something to push against) with a finger or tool, making it easier to slide a lead or large snap swivel onto the ring without fumbling or breaking fingernails.
Lure Fishing: It is suitable for attaching larger, heavy-duty lures (like metal pirks) to the main line or rig body, where its 60lb strength provides confidence when fighting large fish.
