The 13ft (3.90m) version is the lightest and most agile in the range. Rated for up to 120g, it is a finesse-oriented tool designed for anglers who want the mobility of a telescopic rod without the “sloppy” action usually associated with them. Part of the exclusive PENN Tidal concept, this rod uses high-modulus carbon to ensure it feels crisp, fast, and remarkably similar to a high-end three-piece beachcaster.

Compact Mobility Meets Technical Precision

24T/30T High-Modulus Carbon: Most telescopic rods are heavy and thick, but the Tidal X is super-slim. By blending 24T and 30T carbon, PENN has created a blank that is lightweight and responsive, making it a joy to hold for long sessions.
Carbon X-Wrap Technology: This visible reinforcement weave cross-wraps the blank, drastically reducing “torsion” (twisting) during the cast. This gives you better directional control and surprisingly powerful distance properties for a travel rod.

“The 120g Tidal X is a precision instrument. To get the absolute best out of it, don’t over-gun it with a heavy lead. Use a 3oz (approx. 85g) sinker and a smooth, athletic overhead cast. Pair it with a 4000 or 5000 sized fixed spool reel and thin braid—you’ll be amazed at the distance this little rod can achieve. Essential Maintenance: Always rinse the rod with fresh water and wipe down the sections before collapsing them; this keeps the telescopic joints grit-free and smooth for years to come
